My Michigan
By the riversides - along little byways -
in cities - towns - everywhere … . .
there are trees … …
Trees that somehow stir a deep feeling
within the heart … …
gracefully swaying white birch - -
massive oaks - - pines and tamaracks
poplars - maples and elms - -
sycamores - beech and willows - -
Each playing its part to bring
to spring its delicacy of renewed life …
to summer its deep cool shade . .
to autumn a festival of color . . .
and to winter the grandeur of interlacing
patterns against the skies … . .
